Last year I recommended following the blog of Anonymous J in which she beautifully documented hiking through the Appalachian Trail (AT). Well, I hope you listened because it was an amazing experience. Even though Anonymous J has revealed her name to us (it’s Jocelyn!), she’s retitled her blog with her trail name which is Patches. She’s also informed us that she’s about to go on another sojourn. This time she’s going to hike through the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT).
I’m so thrilled that she has chosen to share her adventures with us. She’s truly inspirational. While I don’t know that I’ll travel the globe, I know that I want to at least hike through the Shenandoah National Park (which isn’t too far from my home). Since I will have to wait until my girls are a bit older, I will sit back and live vicariously through Jocelyn’s journeys.
I sincerely hope that you will follow her blog, Patches Thru, and give her lots of encouragement as she treks along the PCT. Enjoy!
When I walk 2-3 miles with my daughter at least twice a week, being asthmatic and pregnant, I think I’m pretty awesome. Then I read this blog and realize that SHE’s awesome:
Anonymous J developed adult-onset asthma as a result of her occupation. Consequently she had to quit her job, and then she decided to hike the Appalachian Trail (AT) with all of her free time. I have been enjoying her posts since the beginning and wanted to share her story with you. Please check out her blog and make sure to give her some encouragement. She checks in pretty regularly, and I’m sure she would appreciate it.
You might remember I started a post about brewing beer and that it kind of ended right where it started. I love home brewed beer more, I love my husband, I don’t love documenting it.
I had taken a few more pictures and I was going to post follow up articles on how to brew, but I got bored and gave up. Well, now I should mention a couple of things that go in hand with that brewing post, so here they are:
1. Okey submitted the beer from that batch in his local club’s pale ale competition and got first place out of seven submissions. His club chose his beer to recognize them on a national level. (Way to go, Okey!)
2. Okey knows how much fun I have as a “blogger” where I write about the things I like or catch my fancy. Well, he’s decided to launch his on blog. So for the rest of the story about how to brew … head on over to http://ibrew.wordpress.com/
He bought me a Rogue kit and sometime next month he is going to teach me how to brew. Yes, I will actually brew! Maybe I’ll blog about it, too. 😉
Let me break down my three blogs for you.
My first blog is Vin in Va. I want to keep that blog separate from my personal blog because Vin in Va is specifically about my tasting experiences at the Virginian wineries. (Sometimes I leave the state so I will write about the wineries I visit out-of-state, too.) I would like to go to all of the wineries in Virginia in my lifetime. I’ve got plenty of material to work with here! There are over 140, and if I space the project out over ten years, then I have to go to 14 a year. This is a good project and will be focused just on the wineries. I will also try to not use any run-on sentences there. Tip top grammar only!
My favorite project is Search and Snap. This is the modern scavenger hunt for a digital age. I am learning to take better photographs. I am encouraging my friends and their friends to do the same by creating a themed list of items to be photographed and giving a limited amount of time to capture everything digitally. It’s a site for other people’s creativity, and I’m merely a facilitator, so I am trying my best to not let my essence take over that site.
Here on this blog I am more casual and relaxed. I will write about the topic I know best: me. On Polly’s Blog, you will get more than a “status” update. Instead, I will update you on something that interests me. Unfortunately for you, I am not limited by 140 characters. 😛 I don’t want to limit myself on this blog so I won’t even type potential subjects.
Hopefully it makes sense to you that these three blogs and writing personas are kept separate. Thank you for taking the time to read this and maybe my other blogs too.
